Digital literacy and protection
More and more organisations are recognising the importance of good quality data in making decisions. That is never more evident than in the police service.
Data is the lifeblood of the police service. When data is collected and put into context it forms information and intelligence which can be used to make good policing decisions. This can include reducing demand, preventing crime and protecting vulnerable people.
This session will illustrate, through case studies, the importance of good quality data in delivering positive policing outcomes. It will also address, through a case study, the importance of data ethics in retaining the public’s confidence in how police use their data.
The College of Policing is working on ways of helping officers and staff to understand and interpret data in order to make better decisions. This session will also talk about what will be delivered and the difference it is intended to make.
