Syllabus changes for all 2023 exams
Due to the changes made by the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022, the College of Policing has taken the decision, in conjunction with our legal services team, to remove the following sections from all 2023 exams.
The sections listed below will therefore not be examined in the 2023 exams.
National investigators’ examinations (NIE)
The Blackstone's Police Investigators Manual 2023:
- sections 1.10.1, 1.10.2, 1.10.3 and 1.10.4
NPPF sergeants’ and inspectors’ examinations
The Blackstone's Police Manuals Volume 2: Evidence and Procedure 2023:
- sections 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3 and 2.2.4
The rest of the syllabus will still be examinable.
For their own knowledge, candidates are recommended to familiarise themselves with the updated legislation. Forces may wish to consider testing this within force.
All candidates should refer to the relevant candidate handbooks for their exam for further information about the syllabus.
Statement issued in January 2023.
