The continuing health and safety of all officers and staff is absolutely critical in policing's response to COVID-19.

This operational guidance document, created with the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), explains when PPE is necessary for officers and staff, in both external/public-facing and internal roles. It includes a useful chart for determining the appropriate PPE in different operational situations.

The recommendation in all scenarios is officers have PPE readily available and as a minimum that this is a fluid resistant surgical mark (IIR) and gloves (non-latex).
