Wi-Fi - 3 Day

Overview

​This course is designed for learners who need to understand how multiple Wi-Fi evidential sources and Wi-Fi associated technologies can assist within investigations. It will enable learners to understand how to conduct router examinations and Wi-Fi RF surveys.

Who should attend

​Officers and staff undertaking the role of Digital Media Investigator within a dedicated unit or who have responsibilities for digital media investigation as part of their role.
Officers and staff undertaking the role of Digital Forensic Practitioners.

Aims

​To equip learners with the skills to exploit the opportunities relating to Wi-Fi data sources and to conduct router examinations.

Objectives

​On successful completion of this course learners will be able to:

1. Understand Wi-Fi network elements and topology
2. Understand the principles of Wi-Fi Analysis and explain why it is conducted in a law enforcement
     agency
3. Understand and demonstrate how to conduct a Wi-Fi survey
4. Understand and explain the evidential information available from Wi-Fi and other sources

Entry requirements

​Learners in the role of Digital Media Investigator within a dedicated unit or who have responsibilities for digital media investigation as part of their role must have successfully completed the Digital Media Investigator (DMI) Initial learning programme, or other course that provides training to the same level and in the same subjects.
Experience in the role of DMI or other relevant discipline, e.g. digital forensics.
