CPD Week returns again this year, 12 to 16 November.

We're aiming to make it bigger and better than ever before and we're currently working with forces to once again offer you some fantastic activities. Further events will be added to the list below, so please check back on a regular basis for updates.

National events

Please note that some of the events we will be offering will only be open to College of Policing Members. You will need to include your Membership number when you register your interest in an event. If you're not yet a member it's free and easy to join – find out how.

​Shadowing Opportunity - MPS Vehicle Recovery and Examination Services (VRES)​An opportunity to shadow either the Deputy Head of VRES (Ops Manager) or a member of the VRES SMT providing access and exposure to how an Operational Support Function is used as a crime fighting tool by the MPS and how it provides support to Front line Policing.

A fascinating insight into the management of a department that handles over 40,000 vehicles a year.

​MPS Counter Terrorism Protective Security Operations (CTPSO) 

Shadowing Opportunity - CT SecCo
​Accompany an experienced CT SecCo during one or more of the stages required to plan and implement a successful CT protective security operation.  This will require the officer to attend meetings, visits and operations in London in order to gain insight of the role and function of a CT SecCo as they develop a plan from the initial brief, through the intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, survey and partner engagement phases to assuming their role within the command team to implement the plan and manage delivery to the safe conclusion of the operation. 

It may be the interested officer can commit to a full operational cycle, or just the phases that would be particularly valuable to their insight and development.

​Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnairre (TEIQue) consultations​Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) is an emotional intelligence assessment designed to tell you how well you understand and manage your emotions, how well you interpret and deal with the emotions of others and how you can use this knowledge to manage relationships at work. It’s a 20 minute questionnaire with a 30-40 minute interpretation of your scores to give some self-awareness and self-knowledge.

​Detainee Investigations Team @ Avon and Somerset​DIT are offering either half or full day attachments for any Police Staff or Officers who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills around improving investigations, niche, handling prisoners and case building.
These days would suit Police Staff who are interested in working in investigations and for Police officers who would like further information about the work DIT do.

​Intel and Tasking @ Avon and Somerset​We will be offering time slots during the late morning / early afternoon to cover the role of Intelligence Assistant, Intelligence investigator, Intelligence Researcher and Analyst – usually about 15 minutes in each role.  These attachments will take place in the Development Hub, Live Cell and Embedded Intelligence.

​IMPACT - Integrated Offender Management (IOM) @ Avon and Somerset​Would you like the opportunity to shadow  an IMPACT offender manager?
IMPACT manage a cohort of prolific serious acquisitive crime offenders by looking at 9 pathways of their life which could help them reduce their offending. They work closely with probation services, substance misuse services and the prison to try to stop the revolving door of going into and out of prison.

Officers could be meeting an offender in prison to discuss a release plan, meeting with offenders in probation appointments to discuss their licence conditions and supervision arrangements as well as potentially seeing our new Domestic Abuse pilot in action in South Bristol.
They will learn more about how probation work, how licence arrangements work, when an offender can or can't be recalled to prison and how to instigate that as well as what options there are from other agencies to help offenders make better life decisions and turn away from crime.

​Mounted Police @ Avon and Somerset​The mounted police will be opening the doors to the stables for CPD week. This is an opportunity for a small group to hear about what the mounted police do, have a stable tour, be involved in a training session before observing the horse tactics. ​13th November

​Agile working in 90 minutes @ Avon and Somerset​Will you be line managing staff who will be agile workers? How will this impact on your leadership style and how will you monitor performance? Leadership Training will be offering a 90 minute workshop on how to lead an agile workforce. ​Vulnerability and Risk Training pilot @ Avon and Somerset​Volunteers are sought to attend the above training session. This is a one day package that the College of Policing have written that focuses on understanding the victim's perspective and giving us skills to recognise vulnerability and risk.

Nominations are being gathered by Heads of Directorates so if this is an area of interest to you and you would like to attend this pilot session please let your line manager know.
