Personal Protective Equipment

The continuing health and safety of all officers and staff is absolutely critical in policing's response to COVID-19.

The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) has produced new guidance to help you make informed and consistent decisions about your personal protective equipment (PPE) use.

This operational guidance document explains when PPE is necessary for officers and staff, in both external/public-facing and internal roles. It includes a useful chart for determining the appropriate PPE in different operational situations.

The recommendation in all scenarios is officers have PPE readily available and as a minimum that this is a fluid resistant surgical mark (IIR) and gloves (non-latex).
