How can I develop myself in policing?

Read about the new guides we’ve created to help you and support colleagues

We want officers and staff to be recognised for their skills and knowledge and to support them so that they can make the best possible decisions.

To achieve that, we created a Professional Development Programme which has a range of products to support you and allow line managers to support their colleagues.

The products are now available on our website and include guidance and advice about the Professional Development Review (PDR) process, details on preparing for Assessment and Recognition of Competence (ARC), promotion processes and support for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Sam Peach, Head of Curriculum, Assessment and Accreditation at the College of Policing, said: "The resources provide a range of comprehensive but easy to use guides to support members to take personal responsibility for their professional development and provide them with the tools to enhance their skills, increase their professional knowledge and progress their careers.

"I'm confident the resources will become a vital aid to assist those working in policing to become better evidence based decision makers and problem solvers as well as supporting individuals to evidence and gain recognition for their skills and competencies."

Every force in England and Wales has a single point of contact to assist you, as well as a chief officer who is supporting the programme.
