College membership committee

Police staff and officers can now apply to join our first members’ committee.

Police staff and officers across England and Wales can now apply to join our first ever Members’ Committee.

Those recruited will have a key role to play in promoting and supporting the development of membership of the professional body for all those working in policing.

The committee will meet three times a year and report directly to the College of Policing Board.
Police staff and officers have until 22 May to apply for a seat on the committee which will include all policing representative bodies.

We’ve also launched a new online community for our members called the Members’ Room which is available in the Police Online Knowledge Area (POLKA). The online community was launched ahead of the formal introduction of membership later this year.

By joining the Members’ Room on POLKA, members will be personally pledging to abide by the Code of Ethics. Those who join this new community will also be among the first to be invited to register on the new membership platform, when it goes live.

Later this year officers and staff will be able to sign on to the new membership online platform where they will be able to update and manage their personal profile, maintain records of continuing professional development and have access to the broad range of services and products already provided by us.

We have pledged in our Five Year Strategy to subsidise individual membership fees for those working in police forces in England and Wales for as long as it is possible to do so.

Part of the work of the Members’ Committee will be to discuss what members would be willing to pay for as part of a premium offer package.
