A unique national collection, connecting UK police officers and staff to knowledge and evidence.

If you are a current, serving UK police officer or police staff, you can register for free membership to borrow material, access our online services or visit in person.

The Library is housed in the Mansion at the College of Policing site at Bramshill, Hampshire. Please contact us before your visit, so that security staff can be informed. Researchers from outside the police are welcome to apply to visit.

You do not have to visit us in-person to use our services - contact us for help.

Services for UK police personnel and College of Policing staff

  • eResources - Online Library Catalogue plus access to electronic full text.
  • Book loans - in-person and by post (up to 10 items at any one time. The limit for College of Policing staff is 25 items). See the terms and conditions for details on loans, renewals and reservations.
  • Full information, enquiry and document delivery service - this includes searching the library catalogue and other databases. Books can then be requested for loan, or articles can be delivered to you.
  • Literature searches and preparing bibliographies.
  • Inter-library loans via a university or public library (College of Policing staff only).

The Library is staffed during these times

 Monday - Thursday   8:30 - 17:00
 Friday   8:30 - 16:00

Students, visiting police personnel and College of Policing staff can use the Library in the evenings too.

Library facilities

  • WiFi access in the Long Gallery and laptop charging points.
  • 9 PCs with internet access and Microsoft Office software.  You are welcome to use USB memory sticks.
  • Quiet study areas and you are welcome to visit and read our periodicals.
  • There are 2 photocopiers which are free of charge to College of Policing staff, course members and visiting police personnel.  Other day visitors are charged for copying.
