Thames Valley Police: Detective Chief Inspector - South East Regional Organised Crime Unit

Applications are invited from substantive Detective Chief Inspectors or Chief Inspectors with relevant experience and Detective Inspectors or Inspectors with relevant experience on promotion to Chief Inspector, for the above post in the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit. This post is based at Horsham.

Chief Inspector (2 year secondment): National Counter-Terrorism Exercise Programme, Home Office, Marsham Street.

The post is one of two Chief Inspector secondment opportunities within the National CT Exercise Team. The post-holder will work to the Head of the CT Exercise Programme. The post-holder's main responsibilities are in relation to assisting in the planning and delivery of the National CT Exercise Programme, in particular by leading on:

  • Exercise scenario development, including detailed development of the sequence of events for any given exercise. This requires a good analysis and anticipation of the likely responses by exercise participants underpinned by understanding of relevant professional practice. The post-holder will lead the scenario working group for CT exercises;
  • The provision of terrorist role players, including their selection, training and management in exercise.
  • The provision of a series of preparatory table-top exercises held before each major live-play exercise, which are designed to raise participating Forces' awareness of CT plans and responses.
  • Provision of consultancy and project support to planning teams, including:
    • Development and scrutiny of exercise objectives;
    • Command and control architecture, management of exercise participants, their connectivity and integration;
    • Ensuring opportunities to test emergency service interoperability;
    • Exercise technical communications arrangements;
    • Project assurance including ensuring project controls, risk management and reporting and exception processes are adhered to.
