Field search course

Interrogate a computer with limited technical knowledge. 

Aims

​The course will give students with limited technical knowledge the ability to interrogate a computer.

The software allows for a list of predefined keyword​s to be searched for, providing a list of file locations where those keywords are found.

Objectives

​By the end of this course​ the students will be able to:

  • use field search to ascertain the contents of the offenders' machine
  • explain the impact of field search on the examined computer
  • explain the four ACPO principles
  • interpret created, accessed and modified dates

The course will use the ​​​​latest version of field search.

Methods of delivery

​Classroom-based.
