Where you should search depends on what you're looking for. Members have a variety of options for searching. Non-Members should use Classic Catalogue.
Police Library Search (PLS) is our discovery service which provides a one stop shop search for all of our full-text resources and hardcopy items. If you are a Library member and you want easy access to full-text this is the simplest way to find it. Library Members must login with OpenAthens to fully access this service.
PLS integrates with classic catalogue for book requests and article scans. A printable guide is available.
Non-members can search as guest, but will not have access to the majority of content.
Non-members including students, academics and retired officers can use Classic Catalgoue directly to search for policing literature abstracts and links to historic guidance and current College documents. Documents from the mid-2000s onwards may be freely available as a pdf. Records for protectively marked material are accessible to members only.
Current guidance on Policing Practice can be found in
Authorised Professional Practice (APP) which is publically available and includes links to all referenced documents where available.
