Search the Library's resources

Search the library for books, reports, theses and access online journals.  Please contact us if you need any help with searching.

There are two ways to search the National Police Library's collection:

  • Search the library catalogue

Anyone can browse the library catalogue to search for books, reports, theses, grey literature and over 40,000 journal articles. If you wish to borrow or access any items - you must register as a library member and login with your borrower number before making selections and submitting requests.
  • Use Police Library Search

This service is exclusive to College members. You will need to be registered for College membership to access our powerful new discovery service. Police Library Search enables you to search across our catalogue, databases and you can also identify other resources which the National Police Library does not hold. Registered library members must login to OpenAthens to access this service - you will find this service under EBSCO Information Services > EBSCO Discovery Service.

OpenAthens accounts

When you join as a member of the College, you will need to complete a form to register for library membership on the membership site to receive an OpenAthens account. This enables you to access to our eResources from any computer, not just your force network. We automatically provide OpenAthens when you join the library but we will delete accounts which have not been activated within 3 months, and any accounts which are not used in 6 months. Please contact us if you cannot access your OpenAthens account.

If you cannot access a journal or if the Library does not currently subscribe to a title, please contact us - we will consider purchasing new policing-related titles. We also provide access to other journals - see our eResources page for the full list.
