Professional Development Programme

At the College of Policing we are determined to make a difference to the way people who work in policing are supported to do their jobs.

We want to support everyone in policing to make the best possible decisions and gain recognition for their skills and knowledge so that they can provide the best service to the public.

Our Professional Development Platform is the place to find out more about Professional Profiles, the Competency and Values Framework (CVF) and Recognition for Prior Experience and Learning (RPL).

We are also implementing a range of other products as part of the professional development programme including:

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Professional Development Review (PDR)
  • Police Professional Framework (PPF)
  • National Police Promotions Framework (NPPF)
  • Assessment and recognition of Competence (ARC)
  • Assessor support and guidance

The Professional Development programme aims to:

  • Support your development
  • Recognise and enhance your professional development
  • Provide you with the opportunity to take responsibility for your career development
  • Help you maintain your skills
  • Help recognise policing as a profession

Each force has a single point of contact (SPoC) who should be able to answer any questions you might have about the PDP

Please note that this site is being developed over time.  From July more documents will be added for individuals and line managers.
