Assistant Chief Officer Application Process for the Strategic Command Course

This process aims to provide access to the strategic command course (SCC) for senior members of police staff who already hold Assistant Chief Officer posts.

Through the SCC Professional Reference Group, it has been agreed that existing, substantive Assistant Chief Officers (ACOs) are no longer required to undertake the Senior Police Staff Assessment Process if they wish to access the SCC.

Forces are not charged for delegates attending the course.

The next opportunity for ACOs to apply to attend the SCC will be in Spring 2017.  Documents from the 2016 Application Window are available below for reference.

2016 Application Documents

Please note applications for 2016 are now closed, these documents are provided as reference only.

The main function of the application form is for applicants to set out evidence of how they meet the four core eligibility criteria, which need to be satisfied in order to attend the SCC.  Everyone wishing to attend the SCC has to complete the application form.

The application form is then reviewed by the applicant's Chief Constable for verification and support.  Where applicant numbers outweigh available places, applicants will be selected through an interview by the Director of Senior PNAC and Director of SCC.  .The Application form and supporting documents can be downloaded below;
