This process aims to identify individuals who would derive substantial benefit from attending the Strategic Command Course (SCC), with a view to undertaking the most senior police staff positions in the police service.
The assessment process is open to police staff of an equivalent grade to superintendent and above, who are operating at the right strategic level to derive substantial benefit from the course and contribute meaningfully to it. Individuals who are successful at the assessment process will be invited to attend the SCC.
There is a separate application process for
senior police staff who already hold Assistant Chief Officer posts.
In addition to the SCC, a range of other
leadership programmes are available for police staff. These include the Senior Leadership Programme and Leading Powerful Partnerships.
Police Officer candidates should access information and documents about the
Senior Police National Assessment Centre.
The following documents are available to support candidates' preparation for Senior Police Staff Assessment Process 2016.
If you have any individual circumstances that you believe may affect your performance in or attendance at the assessment centre, you should refer to the Senior Selection Reasonable Adjustment and Accommodation Policy. The policy details the process by which candidates with a disability or any other influencing factors may apply for reasonable adjustment or an accommodation of their needs.
If, after reading the policy, you have any queries regarding your situation, please contact the Senior Selection Team to arrange to discuss your circumstances with a member of the team.
The following documents are made available from the 2016 Application Stage and the 2015 Assessment Process. They will be replaced with those relevant for the following year in due course:
